Sadamoto’s Evangelion manga is moving to Young Ace magazine
Young Ace magazine is a new magazine that’s starting in July, I don’t know the use of even moving him to another magazine when he’ll only produce manga at the rate of one chapter per year anyway!

Sunshine Creation 44 cancelled too
That’s two events down, I hope it survives.

Amagami got released today

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

amagami

Enterbrain’s latest galge Amagami has been released for the PS2 and the heroes buy multiple copies again for the special preorder bonuses that are different depending on the store that you buy from. This particular guy bought 13 copies of the game to collect all the goods.

Also, about the economics behind being able to afford buying games like that. Basically what you do is buy the games, keep the bonus stuff, and then immediately sell all the copies of the game except one while keeping the bonus stuff for yourself, so it’s not as expensive as what some might be thinking (though still a substantial amount spent)

It’s an age old tradition(?) to do stuff like this for the bonuses.

And I haven’t gotten Amagami yet! Too many games!

Studio e.go! died

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

hankoYamamoto Kazue, who is both Studio e.go!’s main artist and Representative Director, has announced on her blog that she has resigned as of the 17th of March after 10 years and will be leaving the Agree group, and every single one of the staff at e.go is resigning too.

She’ll be setting up a new company called Debo no su seisakujo and will be making new games there instead.

She also comments that games are made with the involvement of many different people, but she can’t work with people who have strayed from the path of a human.

Studio e.go was just celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary too. I kinda liked some of their earlier games from a long time ago.

Also, her blog gives a 404 for me on Firefox but loads fine in IE, for some reason.

Railgun anime?

piripiri

Image on 2ch with no source and weirdly cropped for some reason says that an Railgun will be made into an anime. It looks almost real and it has been rumoured for long enough anyway so I’m assuming it’s real. I hope.

Atelier Rorona coming 25th June

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

14Via Famitsu, Atelier Rorona will be released on the 25th of June and will have 3D graphics and full voice for the first time in the series. The premise of the story is that new 14 year old rookie alchemist Rorona was made in charge of a alchemist atelier that had not been used for a while.

Doesn’t say much about the game system aside from that over 100 types of items can be made. I guess in-depth details will only be in Dengeki Playstation. Also, the artist is Kishida Meru.

too many tokikakeThey’re currently hiring extras for the filming of a live action Toki wo kakeru shoujo movie. The period for filming is between mid-March to late April, no details on the cast or staff. Part of the movie will apparently take place in 1974, which means that the movie’s not going to be based on the anime version.

An increasing shift in readership for Negima

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

female orientedNegima author Akamatsu has reported in his diary that in the fan art corner for vol 26 of Negima, over 60% of the submissions have surprisingly been by females, and many of them are from a younger age group than what they usually receive.

In comparison, over 90% of the fan letters that they got were from males in the past during Love Hina’s run. Though it should also be taken into consideration that males tend to not like drawing fan art or bother writing fan letters.

Akamatsu says this is a small glimpse of the changing times, as over half of the readership in anime magazines are apparently females too, while anime like Gundam and Geass have been the way they were, and a lot of live action shows feature lots of good looking men too.

He figures that half of the reason why Magazine can’t beat Jump is because of this. And another reason being the target age group.
