First effects of coming changes in eroge

rape

Syrup soft has announced that their upcoming eroge (NSFW) has been delayed from 19th June to 26th June and the title will be changed from

  • Machigurumi rinkan ~hakudaku mamire no shoujo tachi~
  • which would mean

  • Gang raped by the entire village ~girls covered in milky liquid~
  • to

  • Machigurumi no wana ~hakudaku ni mamireta shitai~
  • which kinda means

  • The trap set by the entire village ~bodies covered in milky liquid~
  • The actual content in the game hasn’t been changed and it doesn’t appear that they will be changing anything else aside from the title. Either way the EOCS meeting held later today on the 2nd of June will probably decide on the new regulation, but it looks like “gang rape” and “shoujo” are already some of the new taboo words.

It’s kind of hilarious that “shitai” would be a more acceptable word than “shoujo” in an eroge title. Hopefully they’ll forget to add youjo and rori to the taboo list as well :p

If it’s ok for the makers to publish whatever edgy material they want provided the title of the game doesn’t give it away, it’s not that bad after all. Hey, there might even be regulations on box art that would make it possible to put games on a shelf in plain view and not look like a perv.

      Hurm…As long as the content hasn’t been changed, I guess it’s ok…

Well, you certainly don’t know English…

Am I the only person here who finds the entire idea of rape games disgusting? I have no problem with eroge, but rape games need to be banned permanatly, in Japan and everywhere else. These developers are just sick perverts…

Some people would say the same thing about yaoi/yuri (that they find the whole idea disgusting, that is). “Some people think this is icky” isn’t really sufficient reason to ban something.

      If a fetish isn’t yours, don’t play!

PornLovingFeminist, Did you really just compared Homosexuality to rape?Wow.

I find the idea disgusting, doesn’t mean I’m pro-ban. It’s a freedom-of-speech thing. Plus, it’s not real. As a wiser man than me once said: “I may not agree with your ideas, but I’ll die defending your right to have them.”

more tentacle rape?….this is sick man!…….i quit this joint i rather get drunk with beer!

Jibaro - Did you actually read my comment, or did the word ‘feminist’ short-circuit your brain?

I said that some people think homosexuality is icky and would want to ban all games containing it. THESE PEOPLE ARE CLEARLY IDIOTS. “Some people think it’s icky” is not a good reason to ban something, because the “some people” in question might be bigoted morons.

      Game that is banned: Rapeplay.
It has a dude raping women.
      Clearly, it inspires rape.

      Game that is legal: Postal2.
This is your run-of-the-mill shoot ‘em up game that lets you pick on and shoot innocent bystanders, decapitate them, light them on fire with gasoline, and even throw an anthrax-filled cow’s head at them. The results of the anthrax will make them vomit blood. Still want more? You’ll want to shoot people quietly, of course. So there’s a silencer in the game - a live cat. Well, it’s live when you start. You stick the gun up the cat’s butt and the gun is muffled, but every time you shoot, the cat cries out in pain. Eventually the cat will die and fly off of the gun.

Clearly, it inspires murder and torture. But it’s okay! It has no rape.

How the hell do rape games promote rape while murder games don’t promote murder?

Look at Munhunt 1 and 2. Postal 1 and 2. Chiller. Carmageddon. True Crime: New York City. Hitman: Blood Money. Grand Theft Auto.

You get EXTRA POINTS by torturing to death innocent people, women and children included. Beating the crap out of innocent bystanders is not only allowed, but is encouraged.
And if you’re creative and pour gasoline on a woman and light her up, like in Postal 2, you get even higher score.
Or like in Hitman, and The Punisher, where the game encourages players to be as brutal with their victims as possible. And one can say the latter’s plot encourages people to take the law in their hands and go kill those who have wrong them.
      And so many more.

I almost never play such games. And yet I don’t start a crusade against them!

You have obviously never played Hitman.

And as long as films (live action, no less) glorifying this subject are around (and apparently loved) I laugh at anyone tring to ban it in videogames.
