VisualArts blocks foreigners too

Following the lead of minori and yuzusoft, the VisualArts Visual Antena website has also blocked foreign IPs, displaying the message “PLEASE PLAY THE GAME OF YOUR COUNTRY IF YOU PRAY FOR THE WORLD PEACE!:-)」” to foreign visitors.
As of writing, only Visual Antena seems to be blocking foreign IPs and the websites for brands under VisualArts are still accessible.
It seems it is definitely the new trend to block off all foreigners!
Also minori has apparently been using their block to urge foreign visitors to write to the Japanese government through the government website. I hope polite informed comments were being sent instead of emotional mail centering around kill and rape.

When in doubt, blame the foreign devils. They are a vile, corrupting taint on us and you know it!
Although if scapegoating other countries protects their industry then more power to them.

fuck…
June 29th, 2009 at 12:28 pm
Fuck the Westerners!!! Good riddance.
June 29th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
Minori’s is worded to sound more like a call for help, though I haven’t the foggiest of ideas as to what could be done.
I wish them good luck, at least. :-|

LMAO
Maybe Sankaku Complex should call itself Sakoku Complex now.

>> Although if scapegoating other countries protects their industry then more power to them.
True, for better or worse.
Still, I don’t believe these kinds of actions will amount to anything. Us foreigners really can’t do anything about this, regardless of what the minori site says.
The problem is deep and complex, and won’t be solved any time soon. There’s too many sides to the issue, too many uninformed opinions on all sides. Trying to paint a full picture of the Eroge issue is like painting a mural with a paint-dipped needle.
The only certainty I can see is that things are NOT going to get any better soon. It will be a while before the Eroge industry recovers from this. Many publishers will need to take radical decisions in order to survive this climate. If blocking foreign IP’s brings them a (false) sense of security, then let it be. It can’t last forever, anyways, and if anyone wants to check the sites, there are ways to do it regardless of country.

The tone of the Visual Art’s note makes me want to say “What, you *don’t* want me to buy your games, then?” I mean, granted that the amount of foreigners who actually buy their works are a drop in the proverbial bucket, but if they embitter the few “legit” foreign fans they have, all they’ll have left is…
June 29th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Yeah, way to tell me that two days after I paid you $100 for one of your games. What a way to treat customers.
June 29th, 2009 at 3:26 pm

>visual novels
June 29th, 2009 at 4:21 pm
Sounds like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. I find this especially funny since they were planning on releasing a version of their Itaru artbook with English translations of the Japanese text.
June 29th, 2009 at 5:01 pm
dont worry, they will be back.
just like when jp ro opened up beta2 and all the english speaking faggots came on and fagged it up, and gung ho said fuck this and blocked all foreign ips.
then lifted the ban shortly after they went pay to play, because they realized english speaking faggots arent going to PAY to fag shit up.
either way, im not too concerned. its not like the days of 鎖国 anymore, that shit doesnt fucking work. unless youre north korea. kim possible is a crafty motherfucker.
June 29th, 2009 at 5:26 pm
Isn’t that soooo ironic? Must be the new thing to stay out of western mainstream.

the comments on that shit make me wanna steal on a motherfucker
its funny to me, because we pretty much have a clear understanding of what is going on in japan (most of us anyway)
and they dont get that we KNOW WHATS UP.
then the obvious short-term solution for them is to isolate themselves?
GOOD FUCKING JOB, DIPSHITS.
if only they knew that to speak up about the matter in painful detail IN THE UNITED STATES OF FAIL would result in party van visits, maybe they would understand why no one is really getting vocal about the fucking issue.

We’ll let the WTO teach them the meaning of anal pleasure!

I can still see those sites I used this http://www.ijapan.org/blue/
June 29th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
Fuck those proxies and those who advertise them as some kind of solution!!!!1
Do they really make you feel that awesome? I bet you feel the thrill of doing something “forbidden” with the help of your secret 1337-webninja-skillz which these companies TOTALLY don’t know about!!!
People who feel butthurt about these region locks and even worse believe they could p4wn those developers back by secretly stalking their websites using proxies are the worst and a shame for international eroge-fandom.
In such a tough climate, with assaults at the industry coming from various sides already, the very least you should be able to expect of fans is not intentionally harming creators even more.
Fans and creators should fight on the same side!
Please keep your calm and stay loyal to your favorite ones. Respect their decisions on this difficult matter, even if they seem selfish or harsh to you. Remember that those guys are fighting for their very existence (in contrast to you).
June 30th, 2009 at 12:02 am
Uhh, I don’t think anyone feels “awesome” by doing something “forbidden” like using a proxy to view the sites, you psychotic, overreacting son of a bitch.
Jesus Christ, I’ve never seen someone type so much bullshit with such an angry tone over something as simple as someone linking a Japanese proxy.
Calm the fuck down.

June 30th, 2009 at 12:48 am
It’s working for me too.
June 30th, 2009 at 12:53 am
Calm the fuck down yourself. Your post contained absolutely nothing except insults against some other anon. You really must feel super special awesome after accomplishing this feat.
I didn’t get angry because “someone linked a proxy”. I got angry because people who think of proxies as a solution to blocks also happen to fail to see the real problem, which can’t be fixed that easily.
June 30th, 2009 at 1:16 am
man, you are the only drama queen here.
June 30th, 2009 at 1:43 am
>Heh, looks like http://www.product.co.jp/ is working again (at least for me)
Still doesn’t work for me. Is it because I’m from Europe?
June 30th, 2009 at 1:52 am
>I got angry because people who think of proxies as a solution to blocks also >happen to fail to see the real problem, which can’t be fixed that easily.
And what I’m saying is you’re overreacting and reading too much into things. No one thinks proxies are going to fix the _real_ problem, all the guy did was say HEY PALS THIS IS HOW YOU TOO CAN STILL VIEW THEIR SITE and you just went off the deep-end ranting about things.
And now look, you’re doing it again with me. I just said you should chill out and you start sarcastically raving about how “super special awesome” I must feel for doing… what? Just telling you to calm down?
You’re acting like a rabid fucking lunatic for no reason at all.
June 30th, 2009 at 1:57 am
looks like someone have cracked their server, whoever it is still doesn’t seem to realize that this mess had nothing to do with foreigners. ESCO actions happened so that they could stop the Japanese government from imposing restrictions on them due to the loli contains.
June 30th, 2009 at 5:25 am
Why is everyone having such a problem with eroge makers banning foreign IP? I fully support them in block foreign IPs. While it’s inconvenient for us fans, it’s necessary to make more difficult for the feminist and other anti-eroge groups to get information about new games. We should voice our support for the eroge makers, not condeming them for this.

Concerning “Act on Punishment of Activities Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children”, we want you to e-mail the following to the Japanese government and some Diet members : the right to freedom of expression is important and “the 2D-Pornography-Control of pictures, games and anime” goes too far, even if “the Child-Pornography-Regulation” are inevitable.
I guess it’s capable of amending the draft law by external pressure ( your help ), because the trouble is what respond to it by the international community.

There is nothing non japanese people can do to help you in this kind of situation. Remember the situation in the USA, EU and commonwealth states is even worse regarding to silly “child pronography” regulations.
Germany will be even censoring the internet since the respective law proposal passed the parlament last month, same with Australia and some other countries, and now even the EU is discussing of implementing ia internet censorship infrastructure.
Th’s just the beginning, all major “anti-whatsover” front groups, which all are controlled anyway, are pushing for the regulation of the internet with the child-protection argument and to get the approval of the dumb masses the most common used factors are child-pornography and violent video games.
