Yamakan talking about Endless Eight

Wait a minute, he said on the Kannagi radio that he was fired, and now he’s saying he left Kyoto animation on his own will. I don’t know what to believe anymore.

That YouTube says he’s the director of the first season of Haruhi when in fact other sources (e.g., ANN) say he’s only a script writer for like four episodes of Haruhi. What?

  2. gia Says:

When asked about being kicked off Lucky Star here at Otakon, he responded that the questioner would have to ask Kyoto Animation about it.

I don’t know what to think about Yamakan anymore.

He was fired from Lucky Star, but he left Kyoto Animation on his own….

Sounds like the norm at many Japanese companies. A disgraced figure removed from the front lines often gets shoved to the side (with little hope of doing anything noteworthy again), so he’s basically forced to quit.

Yamakan was the Production Director. KyoAni is very insular, so certain individuals may be involved in multiple capacities (i.e. a character designer/chief animator on one project might direct episodes and write scripts for another). It’s also the only studio where nearly all the staff are employed by the company and are not contracted freelancers.

At any rate, the company’s treatment of Yamakan is very typical of a group oriented culture.

As sourced from your very site:

Fired from Lucky Star, but left KyoAni on his own free will.

It sure was great how he asked us not to post that to the net at the panel!

At least nobody leaked the other answer.

  7. Anatole_serial Says:

Oh, but someone else will leak the other answer. Trust me.

    Oh this is sad…..

I’m really hopig the rest of the season redeems itself, both for the lack of the director, and the immense trolling Kadokawa pulled off to put six of the same episodes on Blu-ray. And no, I don’t want another series from KyoAni to compensate for this: haruhi season 1 still remains to be one of my personal favourite anime both for its execution and its treatment of themes of interest.

But this really seems to add fuel to the fire of detractors. It’s such a tragedy. (This feel like a dark moment for Haruhiists)

well, i’m a haruhiist and i’m enjoying endless eight

there are too many radical fanboys

I was actually referring to what he said on the Kannagi radio show a year later after that post, but yeah, I guess he might have been referring to lucky star in the end since all the important words were censored anyway.

    Fuck KyoAni.

  12. TheBigN Says:

    What as said. :(

I thought he got fired from Kyoani because he refuse about a 6 episodes of Endless Eight.

    Then, he directed Kannagi.
