Dream C Club gets low score of 24/40 on Famitsu

It’s “get your early leaked issue of Famitsu” day and it has been revealed that the Dream C Club for the Xbox 360 has gotten a 6/6/6/6 review by Famitsu.

6/10
Their expressions and gestures are really nice and help to lift your spirits, but, there aren’t many patterns to what they can do, so if an event happens and you don’t make any progress they’ll just repeat the same things over and over again. The karaoke was enjoyable at first but there’s no variation. On the whole it feels like the game lacks the extra step to make it special. It’s also a pity about the large amount of content you can’t get without connecting to the internet and the large amounts of loading in the game.

6/10
There isn’t much variation in the conversations and the character’s movements, the game just feels like you’re repeating the same thing over and over again just to raise the character flags. But, they have definitely put a lot of effort into making cute girls, and because of this there are a lot of faults that can be forgiven. However I feel that there’s a problem with the game where they force auto-save on the game when it’s so hard to meet the requirements to raise character flags.

6/10
The girls’ gestures and movements are really cute and the atmosphere of the shop is good. But when the player doesn’t know the requirements needed to activate certain events, the player will often find himself repeating the same conversation over and over again. I’m slightly concerned about the lack of variation in the ways you can earn money, the variation of the types of snacks available, and the the long loading times.

6/10
They’ve really built a pretty good atmosphere with the frequent character movements and the slight changes between before and after they’re drunk. But the lack of variation in the character’s actions and how the event conversations can contradict what happens in normal conversations affect the enjoyment of the game. Stress builds up as the decisions you have to make in the game are not obvious and the load times are slightly long. We can probably expect the DLC to make up for the lack of costumes and songs in the game. What a pity.

However, “Famitsu Xbox360″ (different mag from Famitsu) has given the game a high review score of 8/9/7/8.

As a comparison, Idolmaster got 6/7/7/6, Idolmaster L4U got 7/8/7/6, Idolmaster SP got 7/8/8/8.

Also it costs 800 Microsoft points per character if you want to be able to have jyakigan girl or robot girl available right from the start without having to do some requirements to unlock them.

    what a bummer…
so it’s like playing karaoke version of AHM, repeating the same boring stuff for hours

No one should be surprised that this game is half-assed, since it’s D3 Publisher. I expected it.

  3. Anonymous Says:

Of course. this is D3, low budget publisher since the beginning of time. people who aren’t surprised are idiots.

that said, famitsu scores mean jack. otaku don’t care and will still buy it in droves.

and sell that shit right back in droves

It’s simple and effective, but hey, thanks for helping police the internets.

Sounds like an automatic 10/10 to me…

Oh wow, Moe Karaoke gets above average score from every single reviewer.

Everyone who still takes Famitsu-scores serious is an idiot. I mean, what was the last game that got a score below 10, or even 20? Are these guys too scared to give out bad ratings anymore or do they depend too much on the industry?

Seriously, if a game magazine forces itself to review all of the latest big-name games before they are even released and still ends up giving almost every single one of them an above-average combined grade, something’s definitely going wrong.

What is their mission? Advising gamers WHICH games to buy if on a limited budget of time and money, or simply trying hard to increase last-minute pre-order numbers and launch sales of every game the industry hands them?

    What is their mission?

Video game magazines being accused of trying to drive sales when the scores aren’t fitting with what you think they should be. Dear lord! That is a unique and interesting theory that the Internet has not heard before. I hope our top agents are on this…

Idolmaster has better boob physics. Dream C Club has breasts that move like blobs of jelly.

Actually, I am curious as to something.

What exactly IS the average score for Famitsu? What value hits their median?

  13. Koji Oe Says:

Thanks for putting the Idolm@ster scores there as a comparison. I almost took the scores seriously.

I like IM@S fairly much so as much as I believe those scores are fair. I probably enjoyed playing it more than they did. Oh well, what it comes down to it is you need to try it yourself and see how it is. You can always read players reviews too. I find those to be more accurate then a bunch of people who have to pay lip service to big name companies.

Well, damn! I hope they don’t get discouraged from at least putting out a soundtrack–I was fairly intrigued by some of the stuff I’ve heard in the trailers.

I cancelled my Amazon JP preorder, since it looks like this is exactly the kind of game that will drop to 2500 Yen in a span of a few months.

  16. Anonymous Says:

Good luck with waiting for it to tank down into a 2500yen wagon. This is the S Rank title that the 360 hopes will be their new flagship title since im@s.

D3 has done an excellent job with marketing and promotions too. What I have seen have convinced me that this title will ride the moe wave into platinum sales of DLC just like im@s.

  17. Koji Oe Says:

From the articles I read in Dengeki G’s, it sounded like it wasn’t too bad of a game. The game play sounded interesting. I guess I’ll just have to try it out myself when I get the time.
