Black Rock Shooter anime with Yamakan
The official site for the Black Rock Shooter anime has opened and it actually looks pretty cool! The anime is slated for April and will be supervised by Yamamoto Yutaka, directed by ex-Kyoto Animation staff Yoshioka Shinobu and animated by Ordet.
The character designs will be by ex-Kyoto Animation animator Matsuo Yuusuke who had worked on many episodes of Kanon, Lucky Star (100 cuts on ep 20), and Kannagi.
The music will be composed by Ryo and the staff are working with huke to expand the brs world. Black Rock Shooter pilot edition will be released on the 30th of September and will apparently contain Pilot animation that goes along with the Black Rock Shooter song. There will also be a booklet with the image board used for the pilot animation and a CD produced by Ryo which is supposed to be a “live performance + Hatsune Miku voice-beta” version.
It says the anime will start in April but doesn’t say if it’s a TV anime or something else. Also it seems to be a common misconception but the character in Black Rock Shooter is not Hatsune Miku.

an OVA would be great, a series means it’s going to get ugly, and for a story without much depth into it yet, an OVA is quite alright.

Yamakan has mentioned before that he felt the anime market has been stagnating into a conformitive series of niche-types and light novel reproductions, so perhaps this is his chance to try to pull off something more original?
While truly original titles face a lot of resistance (ie: unsuccessful) anything related to Hatsune Miku has an instant frothing fanbase to draw off of, and since the source material is little more than conceptual ideas they’re all pretty much free to do what they want.

Huke was a big fan of Miku Hatsune and when he finalized B★RS,he based it off of Miku,mainly the hair style. But Im not entirely sure if B★RS was first created before Miku.

BRS may have a similar hairstyle to Miku, but it doesn’t change the fact that huke intended BRS to be an “original” character and not a spinoff of Miku (unlike how so many people claim it is).
