Konami’s Love Plus gets 32/40 on Famitsu
8/10
The game is completely different before and after the girl becomes your girlfriend. The feeling of flirting around with girls who have all sorts of animations while feeling embarrassed is further enhanced by the amount of care they put into the game and it all comes together as an incredible experience. If you don’t mind the trouble and can keep playing the game, the number of things you can do with the girl is immense and you can go on forever. And considering how it is possible for the player to personalize the girl, the number of available characters is quite reasonable.9/10
The “friend” part can basically be described as a love simulation. There’s no fatigue meter in the game so it plays quite smoothly and comfortably. But, the real main part of the game is still the “lover” part. The link with real world time and the immense number of events leave me speechless. The slightly reluctant kiss had me completely absorbed in the game next thing I knew. The difference between the character modeling and the illustrations can be made up for by the character animations and voice.7/10
The real game starts after becoming lovers. It kinda makes me happy how a casual comment can make the girl try to change herself to fit your own tastes. There are two types of modes to the game, so you can date the girl at your own pace. Special events don’t happen everyday, the key to enjoying the game is to treat it like she’s a real girlfriend and enjoy a normal everyday life with her.8/10
It’s feels quite new how the main game actually only starts after you start dating the girl you like. The girls’ gestures are cute and it’s a big plus with the large variety in what they can say and in the large amount of events available in the game. It’s really good how the girl will slowly change her character and her appearance to fit your tastes. I wish there was more variation in the types of mail conversations you can have with her and the kind of chats you can have with her, but that might be asking for too much.
Love Plus got 32/40 in Famitsu which traditionally doesn’t give high scores for galge! Even Dream C Club only got 24/40.

Also Konami has been updating their project to make all Japanese men Love Plus and they have posted news clips which report stuff like how they found proof that Tokugawa Ieyasu was giving out copies of Love Plus to raise the morale of his troops.
They actually hired real professional newscasters for these videos. Konami is really hardcore serious about this.

This is awesome, that it’s actually a good game where they’ve thought of everything.
“It’s really good how the girl will slowly change her character and her appearance to fit your tastes.”
That there brings me tears of joy. Wow I actually have a say in the relationship!
I hope some company would be daring enough to release the game in the West, but sadly what is such a pure concept would automatically be labelled as “for creeps”.

I like how the female newscaster only has one line for both news videos. She literally is there just for looks!

They wouldn’t be real professional newscasters (in Japan) any other way!
Of course, the real question on everyone’s mind is how far they take the stylus functions. >_>;

Wow, it comes out on my birthday… Guess I shouldn’t ask my relatives to buy it, even though their reaction would be absolutely hilarious.

I’m not surprised that Konami is serious business over this. They’ve been away from this whole love simulation genre for a while now. I personally am pretty hyped for this game since it seems like there is so much to do and that the girls mold themselves to fit your tastes which is kinda superficial and weird but it’s just a game.
I need to get around to ordering this. Can’t wait for this one!!

24 is still way better than ambivalence (20, if there are theoretical 00 and 40 ratings), so they actually still recommended the game to readers.
But then again, how many games are there that Famitsu doesn’t recommend (score below 20)? I think they have to rethink their attitude. With so many games flooding the market, you shouldn’t recommend 80% of them to your readers since they will always feel like they were missing out on something. Nobody has the time to even rent and try all these games with above-average scores, most people don’t even have the money. I think they shouldn’t be shy to assume a more critical attitude. Isn’t that what they actually are, or at least should be: videogame critics?

Nope.
Famitsu’s main job is report news on video games.
Everything else is pretty much secondary.

Sorry I have an OT question but the demographics of the readership here leads me to believe I can get an answer here.
Does anyone know the difference between the R3 (Asia) version of Atelier Rorona versus the Japanese version? Could it possibly have English text or probably just Chinese support? Thanks.
