Gonzo style official online shop is closing

Gonzo’s official online shop Gonzo Style has announced that they will be closing on the 30th of September. Gonzo Style has been open since 2005 September and specialized in selling Gonzo goods.
I just realised that there are no more Gonzo anime with confirmed airing dates once Saki ends. Gonzo was supposed to make the anime for Alive but the author has already confirmed that the anime project has been stopped too.

this is worrying, I liked many of their shows and was hoping for a good 3rd season of “Rosario + Vampire” (hopefully not a bad as the 2nd season).
any way, they were acquired by a USA studio weren’t they?! so what’s up with that!

I only liked a few Gonzo shows (Blue submarine no. 6, NHK, Hellsing - that’s pretty much it), but even if you liked a lot -
isn’t it reassuring seeing that gonzo’s tactic, namely - churning out a shitload of titles of which only about 1/5 is worthwile - isn’t economicaly viable?
Maybe it means seeing less shit come out!
hopefully.

Good. Gonzo ruins everything they touch. Saki’s art is unforgivably bad.

Do you remember a time when Gonzo pushed out great titles like Gate Keepers? Partridge Farm remembers.

No anime with *confirmed* airing dates? That *is* worrying, considering the Fall season is pretty much upon us, and Gonzo had never failed to have at least one show running.
What’s Gonzo doing right now? Stuff that is airing and is not over yet, I mean.

I remember Gate Keepers. That was a real fun show for me back in 2000. I was still buying anime DVDs at the time. lol

Everything that GONZO made lately is just shit, might be for the better that they close down.

I remember Gate Keepers, and I remember Vandread, and even until now I still love them. For as long as they remain alive and kicking, there’ll always be the possibility of screwing up, but also the chance to redeem themselves back, and if they’re gone, no such possibility is ever gonna happen =/

“churning out a shitload of titles of which only about 1/5 is worthwile - isn’t economicaly viable?”
That’s the industry standard. Gonzo got into so much trouble because they raised their own capital (eventually by launching an IPO and becoming publicly traded) and spent that money, whereas most studios rely on the production committees for financing.
The large advertising agencies/publishers can take the losses and routinely chance upon a few big hits. GDH couldn’t.

Gonzo as we know it is done for. If the studio remains operating, it’ll be a completely different place - probably like the typical anime mill that churns out series for the corporate sponsors (Saki was actually done under this model).
OTOH, Shouji Murahama has started a new company in the same spirit of Gonzo, so his chance for redemption is there. They intend to target a worldwide audience and raise their own capital. However, the plan is to stay small for now.

Seriously, hurry up with Strike Witches 2, Gonzo.

What’s going to happen to Strike Witches 2?

I love Kaleido Star and FMP but Gonzo’s really been letting me down recently.

Hot damn. This is just like ADV closing… sure they sold a lot of shit, but boy back then they did create some wonderful memories. Devil Hunter Yohko on VHS… anime cutscenes for Lunar, then Blue Sub 6 with awesome story and abominations for 3DCG (this was before celshading technology was perfected).
Farewell, fair maidens. (Well yeah, you totally whored out, but you were definitely most fun).

But what about Strike Witches 2?
September 8th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
well… I did see their name in some feature films… the might be taking part of some of the up coming films (like Halo or IronMan). Any one knows anything?!

Gonzo also did Full Metal Panic season 1 but later on Kyoani took it.
