Kannagi author Takenashi Eri needs a year of rest
I didn’t realise she was posting on her site again! She made this post on the 7th of August giving an update about how she’s doing now. It’s still not known what actually happened to her aside from that she actually had to undergo surgery.
★08.07★Long time no see everyone,
Thank you to all the people that were concerned for me. I’ve pretty much recovered to the point where I can live normally now. Though I still have rely on my family for food or when going out. Once in a while I can manage to stay up for the entire day. I can even go out with my friends now.
I am definitely recovering!But I think I’ll stop drawing for a year at the very least
I’m doing simple jobs right now (such as checking)
Please wait a little longer before I can make a returnThere’s a Takenashi Eri Kannagi exhibition being held at Aoyama in Tokyo, mainly showing art and etc, please go take a look if possible!
Another post on the 31st of August about how she used to like dogs but now likes cats, and that she hasn’t gone down to the Kannagi exhibition yet, then another post on the 2nd of September

I’ve mastered the dance for Seikan Hikou

It’ll be even weirder if I start singing while dancing
Seikan Hikou is that famous Ranka Lee song in Macross Frontier. It’s probably a completely different thing between being able to do a weird dance than to go back to long hours of manga work, but making posts like that is dangerous.

Yeah, I agree. Being able to dance makes it sound like she should be able to go back to drawing manga.
Though, Seikan Hikou isn’t that hard of a dance I guess. Maybe what happened to her was related to drawing manga, such as something in her arm or the like.
Tumor in the arm she used to draw with?

doesn’t sound as serious a cancer, though, from what she posted originally. Maybe it was an infection?

Arms, or eyes. That’s my guess. It might have been something quite serious, if she’s taking a whole sabbatical year.

Meh who cares. Kannagi is average to below average at best. Least that’s the impression I got from the anime.

Poor girl. First Chisa Yokoyama gets maimed in a traffic accident, then the Gunbuster-OP singer gets busted, and now Takenashi has drawing arm cancer or something.

I’m glad to finally hear an update about Takenashi-sensei’s status. I loved the “Kannagi” anime and know that to get more of that, we need more manga (though I do understand there are still about three volumes of un-adapted manga volumes). I hope she makes a full recovery whether she gets back to drawing or not.
