Kono manga ga sugoi award

bigmoney

Takarajimasha has started a new manga award called the Kono manga ga sugoi award.

The award will only take original submissions that have not been released yet, though original manga that were released as doujin or web comics are also allowed. Submission requires approximately 100 pages, 1st prize 8,000,000 yen (US$86,890), and professional mangaka are allowed to join too.

It looks like Takarajimasha is thinking of seriously getting into the manga publishing business as they state that all the manga that get an award will be published and there is a possibility of serialization.

They’ve also started a light novel award where the top prize is 5,000,000 yen (US$54,300).

This is a nice way to draw out really good mangakas out there who don’t get enough attention or credit for some of their works (doujin and webcomics).

Nice amount of prize money too… This will really draw people into this contest.

The light novel form of this award is what introduced me to Owari no Chronicle. Good stuff.

it actually wasn’t an award before, it was just a book that introduced people to good manga and light novels, this is the first time they’re taking submissions of original works and giving out big cash prizes
