07th Expansion’s BT passed away from illness

rika

Ryukishi07 has announced on his diary that BT who has been working with 07th Expansion since the start of the Higurashi series has passed away to an unnamed illness on the 10th of July. He has been in charge of the 07th Expansion website as well as various scripting and debugging.

Ryukishi07 writes that BT was not only his best friend but also was his first reader, Higurashi and Umineko were almost like they were written just to surprise BT.

BT was also the person who suggested putting up Higurashi ep 1 for free download on the website, which caught the attention of a lot of people, and it was one of the main factors leading to Higurashi’s popularity now.

    I wonder how Ryukishi is taking the loss? Think we’ll feel it in Ep06?

    And yeah, 2009 is turning out to be a horrible year.

    It’s always the talented people who pass away, because they’re overworking themselves maintaining the 1% of the world’s content that isn’t utter crap.

    Pretty sure it won’t. For one thing he died in July, which was before the big push to get episode 5 finished and released. The rest of the post is all stuff like how he knows if he was to stop writing, BT would be the one who would be saddest.

    So yeah, Umineko should continue on time. I don’t think it’ll be the same writing it, though.

    Keep the nihilistic “starving children in Africa” fallacies to yourself ok?

    @Varion

    So BT died to give us EP 05?

  15. Skribulous Says:

    BT was Kinzo.

    That is the only explanation.

    that’s like saying I can’t be affected by the death of a stranger. If you were sitting there, minding your own business, and some kid gets slammed by a car and dies, would you be unaffected? And the problem isn’t that they’re strangers, it’s that they’re KNOWN and they’re ALL DYING THIS YEAR. It’s just a prevalent negativity in the news that makes people pessimistic about this year.

    it’s like that; you might feel differently, but there are people who can feel affected by random strangers.

  17. Fonzer Says:

    Shit hope he doesn’t lose his motivation, since it sounds like BT is the reason why this exists, becouse he wrote it for him.But i think he can continue anyway.
