Yabuki starting new serialization in Jump Square

hayai

The latest issue of Jump Square has announced that ToLoveru artist Yabuki Kentarou will be starting a new serialization in their magazine starting from the February 2010 issue which will go on sale on the 4th of January 2010.

Time between an author’s serialization ending and the next serialization starting:

Kawashita Mizuki
1 year between Hatsukoi Gentei ending and Anedoki starting

Obata Takeshi
1 year between Ral Grad ending and Bakuman starting

Akatsuki Akira
2 years between Contractor M&Y ending and Medaka Box starting

Tanaka Yasuki
2 years between Hitomi no Catoblepas ending and Kagijin starting

Amano Youichi
2 and a half years between OVER TIME ending and AKABOSHI starting

Iwashiro Toshiaki
1 year between Mieruhito ending and PSYREN starting

It usually takes a year or more for an author to start a new serialization after his last serialization ends. Mr.FULLSWING author Suzuki Shinya also previously took almost 2 years after Mr.FULLSWING ended to start Barihaken, and he had tried many different subjects such as love comedy, soccer, quiz, samurai during that time, and he had a pretty hard time getting a new serialization approved.

On the other hand the time between ToLoveru ending and Yabuki’s new serialization starting is only about 4 months. And to start a serialization in January he probably had to get it through the editors two months before. Sounds like a really tight schedule to be making a completely new story.

It’s not like he would want to take a rest anyways, that’ll just get him thinking about…stuff.

Hitomi no Catoblepas and Kagijin have the same mangaka? Explains a few things. Always felt sad it ended so early.

In such a short time… As if this has been planned even before they cut off ToLoveru…

I can’t read about manga news without thinking of Bakuman anymore.

How long was the break between Rumiko Takahashi’s InuYasha and Rin-ne? About a year, right? Hmm…

Well, some authors manage to juggle two series at once, although one or both of them aren’t on a tight schedule (Takehiko Inoue is working on Real and Vagabond. [and maybe Buzzer Beater as well...])

While others take months between chapters. (When was the last time a chapter of Berserk came out?) So maybe this mangaka is just very industrious.
