Kojima Hideo meets Type-moon
Yesterday, introduced via Ishii Jirou from Chunsoft, I managed to get a chance to have a meal with the two gentlemen from TYPE-MOON, Nasu Kinoko and Takeuchi Takashi. The meeting only lasted for a short while, but the meeting was pure enjoyment and I have not had something like that in a while.
It was the first time we met but I felt like we had already known each other for a long time, I felt a kind of affinity that was like deja vu.
It’s a special privilege that only creators have. Even when age or race are completely different, we can still understand each other instantly when we have the same “smell”.
Even though we’re from completely different areas, it does raise my spirits to get to know people who are working really hard and suffering in agony but continue to still create new work.
It makes me feel that I have to continue working just as hard as they are too!
I got them to sign a copy of Kara no kyoukai as we parted.
Nasu-san, Takeuchi-san, Ishii-san, thank you very much.

Thank you for continuing to translate Hideo’s blog. His childlike wonderment at the world in his posts are so much more refreshing than the hyper-pretentious interview he does. I sometimes wonder if the latter is the result of overzealous fanboy translators exalting their god-king.

Consider me *blow away*.
The energy of that room must have been incredible.

Man, just imagine what they could do if they collaborated. Hours and hours of pure, unfiltered exposition! It’s like a match made in purgatory.

This, is awesome.

The next Metal Gear will have mollusk references now.

A bit TOO humble there, Kojima, they don’t sell millions of copies of their games; act your status dood. :V

>shallow definitions of art
I was gonna make fun of this but I think you should just pull out from otaku culture. Maybe like, go spend your time watching films instead or something. Sublime, profound. Sounds enlightening.

Well, that must’ve been an interesting meeting. I wonder if they shared ideas with eachother…

Oh i enjoy otaku culture, but I’m not going to call it

It’s like your trying to say they match shakespeare or something. Way to miss my point, kid.

I think he could see your point and decided (like I am) that it was moot. Shakespeare is like an other writer, his work was just elevated due to popularity and harping on about how good he is like that guy you quoted just did. All a matter of taste man. Since when does someone have to ‘match Shakespeare” to be be praised highly?

>Implying you belong to any one culture, and are only capable of enjoying one form of entertainment.
Shore is fishbowl syndrome.

Impressive ability, pulling out non-existent yet convincing implications from out of nowhere. You’ll go far.

Sorry Kojima, I’m still butthurt from the Nanomachine powerpoint you chucked into MGS4.

Since when has the meaning of exposition changed from telling the audience what is going on to art?
