Manga magazine on cross dressing boys
Tuesday, December 29th, 2009
Ichijinsha has announced that they’re starting a new manga magazine called “WAaI! boys in skirts” and it’ll be about… boys in skirts. The magazine is slated to start in Spring 2010.
They were giving out fliers for the magazine at Comiket.
Also there was already a magazine with real people before so this is strangely not that new and exciting.
Aquaplus announces 2D fighting game at AF’09
Monday, December 28th, 2009
Aquaplus has announced during Aquaplus Festa 09 that they’ll be making a 2D fighting game featuring Aquaplus characters, characters that appeared in the trailer shown during the event included Multi, Tama-nee, Hakuoro (Aruruu + Mukkuru) and Riannon. Details of the game will be announced in 2010.
Dengeki Playstation Online reports that the resolution didn’t look like PSP. A report from a fan that was present at the event commented that the sprite art looked like a cheap doujin game.
No details on if the game development is being outsourced or if Aquaplus is making it themselves.
Then again I’m pretty sure Aquaplus can’t make a fighting game that can get anywhere close to QOH’99. Also when is Go! To! Heart!! going to continue anyway.

Comic Gear died
Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009
Comic Gear, the magazine that was trying a new way to do commercial manga which had garnered a mixed reaction, has announced that vol.3 which would have gone on sale in January has been canceled, and the magazine will cease publication.
The reason given is that they had looked at the commercial performance of the magazine till vol.2 and discussed the future prospects for vol.3 onwards with the publisher Houbunsha and had to come to the conclusion that the magazine will cease publication.
The manga that were serialized on the magazine will go their separate ways, and they advise to check the individual mangaka personal sites for info.
Also I’m pretty sure the reason the magazine failed was less the concept but more that they came into the waning magazine industry with a author line up that was full of doujinshi people.

The new eroge Shinobiryuu which was released on the 18th of December apparently has something to say about the entire eroge restrictions stuff that has been happening!
Nishimata designs image girl for Tokyo Auto Salon
Saturday, December 19th, 2009The image girls for Tokyo Auto Salon 2010 includes a character that has been specially designed by eroge artist Nishimata Aoi. The character’s name is Otosa.
Some might be wondering what is Auto Salon, so here’s a description from the English site:
TOKYO AUTO SALON 2010 with NAPAC is the world’s largest auto exhibition with more than 600 vehicles on display as well as some 300 companies, associations and schools including after-market parts manufacturers, custom shops, car manufacturers, automotive businesses, and automotive vocational schools, etc.
Yeah.
They will also be selling character goods for this character at the exhibition, such as card cases, tumblers, key holders, bath towels, etc.
How much further will this go.
Little Witch died
Thursday, December 17th, 2009
Eroge maker Little Witch has announced on their website that after the release of their latest game Sugar Coat Freaks on the 29th of January, the brand Little Witch will be suspended indefinitely. Aside from a few parts such as tech support, most of their business will be suspended.
Ooyari Ashito, representing Little Witch, writes that:
We still wish to continue making more games, but it has become apparent that if we continue like this and start developing the next game, we will start having trouble with funding before we can release the game, causing trouble to a lot of people, so we have come to the decision that we would have to draw the line here for now.
As I look back now, it has been a continuous series of obstacles after obstacles all the way from when we first set up Little Witch. Even so, the reason why we managed to make it this far is thanks to all the support from our fans. And the only thing that hasn’t changed all this time is my motivation to want to create new games. Even now, I’m still thinking of how we can make better games and how we can “continue” to make games.
I hope to be able to find a workable framework with sustainable development and growth.
I give my sincerest thanks to all the fans who have supported Little Witch for the past 9 years.
We’re giving our fullest right now on the final touch ups for Sugar Coat Freaks which is currently in development. We’re doing the final adjustments now to ensure we can deliver an even better product.

There goes another nice eroge brand. I always thought that they’d be totally awesome if they could get a good writer. Also I realised Ooyari Ashito’s art style is almost completely gone now in their newest game.
