Higurashi no naku koro ni doujin opera edition
A doujin opera adaptation of Higurashi no naku koro ni will apparently be held at the Nerima Bunka center on the 13th of March, with tickets going on sale starting on the 2nd of February at 2,000 yen each. This is a doujin production, meaning it’s not official or anything.
A number of the opera songs can be sampled here. They’re Hatsune Miku versions so if you want to hear the real thing you have to go watch the opera.

WOOOO OPERA! But seriously, I’m wondering how this can not be terrible. Opera requires some real vocal skill and training, and I somehow doubt that the talent pool for vocalists overlaps with huge fans of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, even in Japan. The middle portion of that Venn diagram is almost nonexistent.

I think you might be wrong here. Actually, all that is needed for a decent opera is actors with several years of classical singing education and a decent composer. Nico alone has shown us that there is an abundance of talent among Japanese otaku in these areas. Heck, a friend of mine who’s been taking classical singing lesson since she was 6 is a huge fan of Higurashi…

While I do not doubt the talents of elevens/Nico singers, the sample presented on that site is just… not worth shit.
