fantasy.jpgThe second game for Umineko no naku koro ni was released during the winter comiket. I’ve been forgetting to play it for a while, but I finished it over the weekend. And… yeah. There isn’t much that I can think of to comment about this game, but… (spoilers)

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

classicsuge.jpgDoujin circle ClassiC shikoukairo has released the trial test version of their upcoming SRPG Grana Embrace for download. They actually released the first test demo during summer comiket last year, they sure took a long time to release a web version!

I wonder if they can manage to release the game in 2008…

Crypton removes restrictions on doujin games

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

matakita.jpgEjin kenkyuusho brings news regarding their correspondence with Crypton on their Hatsune Miku doujin game which was asked to be removed from distribution 2 weeks ago. Crypton had actually approved their game for distribution again, though with a change in the game’s title as requested by Crypton.

Though, the biggest change is that Crypton has revised their official guidelines where it comes to doujin games. Previously, the guidelines said that all games were not allowed, but they’ve now completely removed that bit in the guidelines, and people are free to make and distribute doujin games as long as it doesn’t damage their product image.

Another Higurashi port again, now on DS

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

mouiiyo.jpgThe latest famitsu has revealed that yet another port of Higurashi is in the works once again, this time for the DS. They plan to release the game in 4 parts, with a total of 7 newly written chapters over the 4 games. The first volume will be released 26th June.

I don’t know how many renditions of Higurashi they actually want to release. I love Higurashi and all, but who’s going to read the same story so many times anyway!?

7 new chapters sounds great though, but it’s probably not worth buying 4 games at 3990 yen each for the new stuff…

Haruhi doujin game gets canned by Kadokawa

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

doujinowata.jpgDoujin circle souvenir circ has announced that they have been contacted by Kadokawa shoten to cease all distribution of their action doujin game Suzumiya Haruhi no gekitou. They’ve since taken off all info about the game from their website.

Kadokawa sure doesn’t think too kindly about fan works! They had requested for that massive wipe of all fan videos of Haruhi and Lucky star from youtube and nico douga a while back, and also stopped the sales of that awesome Keroro doujin game by ClassiC in 2004.

While we’re at this, CuteType’s doujin game Suzumiya Haruhi no gyakuten 3 has both Haruhi and Hatsune Miku, I wonder if anything is going to happen to them…!

Crypton puts the stop on Vocaloid doujin games

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

mikumikunishiteyannee.jpgDoujin circles Ejin kenkyuusho and Murder koubou have received a notice from Crypton to stop distribution of their doujin game Tatakae! Ore no Hatsune Miku ver 1.2. The game was about training Hatsune Miku to become a super robot pilot and protecting the peace and contained no ero scenes.

Apparently Crypton doesn’t allow any doujin games based on Hatsune Miku to be released, even if they are distributed for free and don’t damage the character’s image.

Crypton’s guidelines also say they might restrict other fan material if they feel that it damages their product’s image so the doujinshi guys can’t go too far with their stuff too…

New shipment of old Touhou titles

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

sonshitaaa.jpgMelonbooks has announced that they will be getting a new shipment of every single Touhou title that the doujin circle Shanghai Alice has produced up till now. So it’s a great chance for fans who want to get the older titles like Koumakyou but couldn’t get them!

I knew I should have sold my copy of Touhou Koumakyou when I saw it going for more than 15,000 yen in the stores.

Trouble Witches arcade edition in 2008

Friday, January 25th, 2008

ome.jpgDoujin circle Studio Siesta has announced on their site that their horizontal scrolling shooter Trouble Witches will be hitting the arcades in 2008. They haven’t released any details on how the arcade version will be like, but they have revealed that the arcade version will support 2 player play.

They have also announced that they are in the process of making a major update for the PC version of the game which they plan to release in March. (The patch will be different from the arcade version)

These doujin game stuff are taking over the arcades…!?
