March 6, 2010, Tokyo, JAPAN — NKH, an amateur group of aspiring web-livecasters, and Nicotech, an open Internet community of Sunday engineers, held Sora-Fes! and launched 150 of “Flying Panties.”

Sora-Fes, literary meaning “Sky-Festival” in Japanese, welcomed nearly 200 people who wanted to share their love for sky and flying toys. The 2000-yen($22) admission included a rubberband-powered ornithopter, or “Flying Panty,” which all participants made and launched together.

I was actually quite surprised some time ago when several wholesale suppliers let me know that they’ll be carrying the flying panties product. I guess these guys are ready to take over the whole of Japan.

Kannagi author Takenashi Eri’s actual brother and fellow mangaka Yuuki Shinichi will apparently be doing a Kannagi spinoff manga called Kanpachi on Comic REX, the magazine which Kannagi was originally running on before it went on hiatus due to Takenashi falling to illness.

I loved both Takenashi Eri and Yuuki Shinichi’s stuff back then since their anthology days. Yuuki is always extra awesome when his work is based on somebody else’s existing work so this should hopefully be nice.

Film strip showing Nagato’s collarbone sells for 356,000 yen (US$3,987) on Yahoo auctions

The cool thing recently is to give out film strips for repeated viewings of the same anime movie, and the other cool thing is to bid high money for it on Yahoo auctions.

Touhou doujin TCG called Mugen was launched by doujin circle AT Project at Reitaisai 6 in March 2009

Some time later there are some reports that Mugen TCG has been sighted at normal card shops

Suspicions arise that AT Project might be ignoring ZUN’s guidelines on Touhou related works and releasing the cards to commercial distribution

A shop writes in their blog that they will be bringing Mugen TCG into their shop, and somebody in the comments asks the shop how they’re going to get the goods

Shop representative explains that they’ll be getting it through a wholesaler (this comment is deleted later)

ZUN says he didn’t give approval for them to enter commercial distribution with Mugen TCG

The suspicions have been confirmed and people start to question AT Project about what they’re doing, for about two days this commotion was contained only within the main Touhou-only BBS, however there is still no response from AT Project on the matter

News gets out and spreads at an incredible speed on twitter and soon there are festival threads on VIP and the AT Project blog gets flooded

AT Project issues an official apology on their website and blog saying that one of the members in their doujin circle was releasing the TCG into commercial distribution without their knowing, and they’ve removed that member from their doujin circle. Also at the same time they say they will be talking to the ISPs in regards to possibly sue for damages from the people that have been posting slanderous comments defaming their circle and the artists involved in the TCG

New proposed legislation amendment in Japan
Any character that regardless of actual age has an appearance of being under 18, and has a possibility of causing youths to lust for or possibility of bringing this fantasy to real life, will have to be censored

Data is collected using Mangaoh Club’s adult comics list. The definition of adult comic refers to the comics that have the label saying that the comic is for adults only.

Anthologies are not included in counting the number of titles, but stuff such as limited edition, renewed edition , special edition etc are counted separately instead of being treated as the same title.

Also this only deals with number of titles and not the number of books that were printed per title.

There has a decrease in number of titles 2009, though nobody can say for sure if it’s because of the recession or political stuff or otherwise.

Shoubunkan has gone from being at right at the top of the charts in 2002-2008 down to near bottom at 2009. News had gotten out a while back that Shoubunkan was going to withdraw from the eromanga industry and I guess they’re already almost completely out of eromanga.

It’s not known if their quitting from eromanga had anything to do with that case where the Shoubunkan chairman was fined for 1.5 million yen (originally a 1 year jail sentence before appeal) over eromanga censorship.

The other significant one probably being Touen Shobou and Tsukasa Shobou going bankrupt and dying in 2007.
